Ryan Sargent is the Co-Owner and Director of Xplosion Dance Academy, playing a key role in the development, organisation, and ongoing growth of the academy.
With over 25 years of involvement in the dance world, Ryan brings a wealth of experience from working behind the scenes in a variety of roles. His background includes supporting a voluntary-run team, helping to run a dance association, and now working alongside his wife, Donna Sargent, to bring the vision of Xplosion Dance Academy to life.
Ryan’s responsibilities within the academy cover many of the vital day-to-day operations that keep XDA moving forward, including managing the academy’s finances, overseeing the website, supporting studio management, and organising competition attendance. His passion for the industry is also deeply personal, with his children having spent many years involved in the dance world, competing in All Star Cheer and Majorette competitions both nationally and internationally.
Ryan is driven by a clear vision for the future of XDA — to build a supportive, professional, and inspiring academy that gives every athlete the opportunity to thrive. His ambition is to help make Xplosion Dance Academy one of the most successful and respected dance academies in Leeds and across the North of England.
Donna Sargent is the co-director of Xplosion Dance Academy and the driving force behind its passion, energy, and commitment to excellence. With a lifelong love for dance, Donna began her journey at just 3 years old, and has been immersed in the world of Majorettes and Cheerleading ever since.
Over the years, Donna has built a wealth of experience both as a performer and mentor, developing a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in competitive dance. Her dedication to the sport is reflected not only in her own journey, but also in the countless dancers she inspires and supports through XDA.
Donna co-runs Xplosion Dance Academy alongside her husband, Ryan Sargent, combining their shared experience and vision to create a thriving, supportive, and high-energy environment for all dancers. Dance is truly a family passion, with their children also having competed in Cheerleading and Majorettes throughout their lives, further strengthening their connection to the industry.
At the heart of everything Donna does is her unwavering passion for Xplosion Dance Academy. She shares the same vision as Ryan — to build XDA into one of the most successful and respected dance academies in Leeds and beyond. Her commitment, enthusiasm, and love for dance continue to shape the academy into a place where talent is nurtured, confidence is built, and performers thrive.
Hi, my name is Teegan and I’ve been part of the dance world since I was five years old. I have a deep passion for every aspect of twirling, pom dancing, and marching within the majorette community. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to achieve numerous national titles and lead my teams to incredible success. In 2019, I completed my twirling coaching qualifications and began my teaching journey. I also studied dance in school, receiving a distinction, and it has always been a significant and meaningful part of my life. As my confidence has grown, I’ve had the privilege of choreographing and teaching award-winning routines alongside my fellow coaches. These experiences have shaped me into the dedicated and enthusiastic coach I am today.
In 2024 I welcomed my little girl into the world, and she has been my greatest joy ever since. Becoming a mum has added a whole new dimension to my dance journey, especially now that I’m a proud “dance mum” too. She stepped onto the competition floor for the very first time in November—and proudly brought home a 1st place win.
In 2025, I was offered the role of Head Coach and the opportunity to lead the team into its next chapter—an honor I proudly accepted. Alongside my best friend, we set out to expand the creative direction of the group, bringing in a wider range of dance styles. We are now branching out into the world of pom dance, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop, adding exciting new dimensions to our team’s journey
Hi, I’m Megs — and I’ve quite literally been dancing since I was born. I stepped onto the dance floor when I was only 15 months old and fell in love with it instantly. Since then, I’ve earned countless titles and accolades throughout my dance journey. From early childhood up to age nine, I trained as a gymnast. I was honored with a prestigious award among 330 gymnasts at the Yorkshire Gymnastics Competition for the best floor routine — a memory that remains a highlight of my athletic beginnings. During school, I studied dance and graduated with a “Distinction Star,” studying many different styles and refining my versatility as a performer.
My passion also extends to cheerleading. For the past eight years I’ve competed as an elite cheerleader and travelled to Florida in the USA to take part in the World Cheerleading Championships. There, I achieved 5th place in U-18 Level 5, and 6th place in Level 6 Open Co-ed — accomplishments I’m immensely proud of. Dance isn’t just what I do — it’s who I am. I live, breathe, and sleep dance. And now, I’m thrilled to continue this journey alongside my best friend, coaching and inspiring talented dancers to reach their full potential
